Application

The application cycle for admission to the Fall 2025 cohort will open January 1, 2025. 

For this year, the deadline has been extended to April 2nd due to the Easter weekend. 

 
Applications for OMPP open on January 1 each year for the next cohort. All application material must be received by the last business day in March of the first year of freshmen enrollment at NMSU. Students with transfer credits or dual credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis and should contact the NMSU OMPP Representative for guidance.

To apply:

  1. Complete OMPP Supplemental Application
  2. Respond to the Personal Statement prompt:
    1. “Why you wish to pursue a career in osteopathic medicine” not to exceed 5000 characters (with spaces)
  3. Provide two Letters of Recommendation:
    1. Letters should be authored by an academic advisor, science professor, employment supervisor, high school teacher, or volunteer supervisor
      1. All letters must be submitted on official letterhead (when available) directly to the NMSU OMPP Representative from the referees on the applicant’s behalf
  4. If invited, participate in an interview

Submit your completed application packet (as one complete packet) to NMSU. All packets must be received or postmarked by 5:00pm MST on the last business day of March. All packets must be mailed or delivered to NMSU.

Recommendation Letter Guidelines ►

  

Select applicants will be considered for entry into the OMPP. The final selection process for entry into the Pathway shall be based on the outlined criteria and will be at the discretion of the selection committee comprised of representatives from both institutions.


Interviews and Final Decisions


After the application deadline, the NMSU OMPP Representative and the Burrell College Office of Admissions will review applications. Selected students will be invited for an interview before to the end of the semester. Final decisions on applicants will be announced no later than June 1, with each student being contacted directly.


Waitlist


Select students who are not placed into the OMPP cohort may be added to a waitlist for future consideration. To remain eligible for admission into OMPP, students must meet all Renewal Requirements. Students added to the waitlist will be notified directly if space becomes available.
